In the fall, you will be preparing for the “Passport to California” project. It will be held in our classroom where your project will be displayed. Our goal is to bring history to life by sharing family immigration stories and to provide a base for the study of who came to California before them. What were your family’s reasons for coming? Are these reasons the same as those of other groups? When did your family members come and how did they travel here? How did they live and what changes occurred? These are important questions to reflect on throughout your life.
This project is composed of three main parts:
The passport, or written report, is the booklet provided. It will help to organize the information.
The poster, or visual report, is used to illustrate unique features of the information gathered.
The suitcase, or oral report, is the presentation. You will bring a small suitcase (literally) to class, packed to help you share your family’s immigration tale.
